Deadline Hollywood has officially announced that Hugh Dillon has joined the Showcase revival of the 90’s critically acclaimed series Twin Peaks due to return to our screens early 2017.
Written by David Lynch and Mark Frost the series was first on our screens from 1990-91, airing for 2 seasons, and will again see Kyle MacLachlan resurrect FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper who was sent to investigate the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the fictional town from which it got its name. The series is No. 12 in the list of the “25 Best Cult TV Shows from the Past 25 Years”.
Hugh has also secured a supporting role along side Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in the film Wind River written by Taylor Sheridan, who also wrote Sicario and with filming just wrapped in Park City, Utah it sees his dictatorial debut.
Dillon got his first break from renowned film director Bruce McDonald in 1994 when he was cast in Dance Me Outside, and in 1996 he took on the lead role of Joe Dick the lead singer of a punk rock band in McDonald’s Hard Core Logo, a part that could have been written for him baring in mind he was and still today is the lead singer of the multi-platinum punk rock band the Headstones.
The film was seen by Quentin Tarantino who decided it was that good that he would distribute it through his company Rolling Thunder which not only brought international recognition for the film but also for Dillon himself.
Continuing to be selective in which roles he took Dillon soon gained notoriety for his natural gift of taking complicated characters which a lot of actors would have shied away from and making them his own, none more so then when in 2007 he was cast as Mike Sweeney in the dark and twisted TV series Durham County which in short succession brought him the breakout lead role of Ed Lane in Canada’s smash hit series Flashpoint, this was closely followed by roles in The Killing, and Continuum.
In 2014 Hugh renewed his association with the creators of Flashpoint Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern to take on the role of Col. Duncan Sinclair in the fantastic wartime drama X Company based on the actual WWII Canadian spy school known as Camp X which has just finished its 2nd season on the CBC network and the cast, crew and writers now know that they are to be renewed for a deservedly 3rd, with Hugh’s talents in such high demand it can only leave me and fans alike eager with anticipation for just how exceptional X Company will be when it returns in Winter 2017, all I can say is they won’t be disappointed.
